Hair falling out

Firstly let me start by saying I'm male, and I'm only 23. I've got longish hair, well down around my eyes anyway. Recently though, I've noticed I leave a lot of hairs around on my clothes. Anytime I look in the mirror I can nearly always see a loose hair sticking out, and anytime I run my fingers through my hair there is always at least one hair wrapped around my fingers.
The worst is when I wash my hair, there's about 20 strands of hair caught in my fingers then.

This is about my 3rd or 4th time having longish hair, and I can only remember having this problem really one of the times and it wasn't on the last occasion. For that reason, I don't think it's baldness. Like I said, I'm only 23 and while my dad did go bald, I don't believe it started early for him. I've no bald patches whatsoever and it never happens when I have shorter hair (although I probably wouldn't notice anyway seeing as the hairs would be short)

It's just that it could be embarassing, especially when I wear darker clothes as the hairs would show up more. Anyone got any ideas as to what might be causing it? Maybe it's the shampoo I use, or maybe I don't wash it enough? Any advice would be appreciated.

And yeah, I know cutting it would solve it, but I like how it looks at the moment.

Don't worry, we lose a lot of hair every day, you just didn't notice when you had shorter hair. According to my g/f with longer hair its "held", so when you comb/shower you are dislodging any loose hairs, their length and the fact that they are all comming off at once gives the appearance of an unusually large amount.

*disclaimer: this is not medical advice, I could be complety wrong

The average person loses about 100 hairs a day. So i think you have nothing to worry about, it seems worse because you have long hair. I have very long hair and after i wash it, it just seems to be everywhere (aside from my head). It seems like loads but in reality it nothing.
If your conscious about it brush your hair before you put your jumper/shirt/jacket on, plus I doubt any one really notices.

Welcome to the world of long hair. I think that you're just being overly worried. Lots of hairs fall out every day, it's just that when you have long hair, it's more obvious.

You should see the shower after me and my hair brush. It's genuinely nothing to worry about. If your hair is falling out in clumps, then that's another story

If you are worried then go to a doctor but when I had long hair it was much more obvious that the dead hair cells were falling out than when I had short hair. As dudara says.

Speaking of hair, I am 17 and have noticed a couple of pure white hairs on my head in the last number of months. They are barely noticable and I only saw them in certain light in front of my mirror. But the strange thing is that I coloured my hair in April and the white hairs have no trace of dye. I am really freaked out becasue this never happend me before.

You should consider that you might be balding!

I started losing hair when I was 19 (and had long hair), so I eventually got on Regaine when I was 21. It stopped more hair falling out, and since then I've been holding it pretty well.

Although I do know that in years to come it might eventually get worse. But I DO have a contincency plan, and I've been doing my research into the best solutions to fix this problem:

    www.toplace.com
    www.coolpiece.com

Also, if you want super-cheap Regaine, go to Ebay and type in Minoxidil.
Regaine = €35 in the shops per month
Generic Minox from Ebay - US import = €7 per month

    Do your research :)
