    Gotta love this

A spokesperson for Connex has confirmed that there was a problem on one of the first trams, which resulted in all passengers having to disembark at Kilmacud.

It is understood that an object was wedged in a door of the tram, and hence the doors could not be closed.

The passengers, numbering around 300, were taken off the tram and had to wait ten minutes until a new tram arrived for them.

Would the other tram not have been going in the opposite diretion?

It must have been overtaking. Maybe that's what the third rail (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=169997) is for :D

Ironing out the bumps. It hasn't really been tested with wave after wave of large amounts of people. Once you add people into the equation, things become unpredictable.

Probably some scumbag thought it would be funny.

It's probably also a good reason for running it for free. You can offer a money back guarantee if punters are not satisfied when testing :-)

There still going through Ranelagh packed full of people. I'm surprised they haven't got people sitting on the roof ...

The news story is typical of the bad press dished out for Luas. Did they expect them to run a tram with a broken door especially with the throngs of people who were q'ing to get on today in both directions.

A tram can still operate with a broken door, they are just not allowed carry passengers. It would have run empty back to the depot.
