I'm on clicksilver at home, and am about to try to set up my main computer with fedora core 2. I know that there are some drivers from sourceforge available for my zyxel 630-11, but that i need to compile them etc. I may do that. Another option was just to get an ethernet modem. While looking for one on ebay, I found this.

Would this be as easy(?) to install as an ethernet modem? Here is a link to the products data sheet. Clicky

Hmm.. Just loooking at this picture up close, it looks like the UK style telephone connection. I suppose a standard adapter would do...

I did a cursory google on your behalf, and I think the UK socket will be the least of your problems. This is a PCI card, so you will need dedicated drivers for it. It uses the ITEX chipset, and it appears there may be drivers available - see here, for example. Doesn't look like this guy had an easy time with it, though.

You might be better off with your original idea of getting an ethernet modem, or alternatively, if you really want a PCI one, get a BeWAN. I use one of these with Clicksilver, and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. It is actively supported under Linux by the manufacturers, who are constantly improving the drivers, and the installation was easy. I have absolutely no connection with them, other than being a very satisfied customer.

Don't get a pci modem, most of the time you'll go insane trying to get it to work :). An ethernet modem is your best bet, since you don't have to mess around with drives/software. Just plug into the phone line, connect to pc with a crossover cable and set it up through your favorite web browser. Quick and painless.

Example of a decent ethernet modem: http://www.dsl-warehouse.co.uk/product.asp?pr=DM602&pm=416
