Strange problem (well sort of)

I've my Sky+ connected to a VCR via a scart lead from the VCR Scart at the back of the box.

Playing a video via the loop through on Sky+ is fine.

I did discover a weird problem though, when I go to record something from Sky+ to the video (live or pre-recorded) there doesn't appear to be any sound coming through on the video channel. This is an annoying fault and was going to necessitate me getting Sky to replace the box. However, I recorded the two recent South African rugby internationals for a friend who didn't mind about the sound. After finishing the first one I turned on the tape to fine the end of the game (well there was no point recording the after match analysis without sound :D) and lo and behold the sound was there perfectly. I'm happy and confused all at the same time.

    Wonder why this is happening?

Shane, try changing the scart lead,it sounds like a dodgy pin along the way somewhere, especially if the RF works OK.

If you have a DVD player or the old Digibox, try recording from that to confirm it is not the scart input on VCR that is at fault.

Similarly I would try another VCR recorder on the Sky+ Box to double check.

I thought that it could have been a dodgy connection at the VCR Scart socket on the Sky+ box (reconditioned unit) as the old one worked perfectly. However as I say, it is only when recording that you do not get sound through the video channel. When you play back a recording the sound is there.

The Sky+ box recordings are made on the video using the AV1 channel on the video. I only use the RF leads to pass through the 8 terrestrials to the video and TV.

I checked the leads from the Sky+ box and if I swap the scarts from TV and VCR then the TV gets no sound. As I said, I'm not too worried about all this as the recordings work - it is just all a bit weird.
