Home Working In Ireland

Why is it, that in this country employers seem to be totally against the idea of having some staff work from home.
I mean, the benefits are well known,...
    Research shows that ......

Home workers reach their targets quicker and over-achieve more often,
    Are happier in employment,
Take much less (up to 75% less) time off due to illness,
Do not take up valuable office space / resources,
Suffer less from work related stress and therefore will probably stay with a company longer.....
    an much more.....

I mean, i am a highly qualified (in a multitude of areas) wheelchair user, I have a complete home-office set-up, broadband internet, seperate phone line, fax, 2x high spec PC's, pager, mobile, laptop, 15 years pc experience, etc etc.....
My only problem is that i cannot travel into the city to work due to a crappy public transport system.

And yet, in london I am plagued with job offers, here however, no employer is even prepared to consider employing a home worker even part time.

And by home worker I dont mean somone who works from home and never sees the employer, (unless the employer wants that of course), Im even talking about coming into an office when needed.

What is it about ireland that employers cant see this as a valuable option?

    B

    Pesky offers!

Although, I have never looked into working from home in Ireland, but no doubt at some it will become fashionable. After all, those horrendous 80's suade crumply boots seem to be back in fashion.

They were awful in The Breakfast Club, and hey, they are still awful now!

On one of my recent contracts they let me work from home 3 days a week. But that said it was unusual. Why not just do the jobs offered you from the UK. I have a friend and 80% of all his business is from the UK. Though hes based in Ireland. He says UK clients are easier to deal with than Irish ones.
