Could someone please advise on a suitable vpn daemon. I have terminal access to a box with debian installed and would like to install a vpn server package capable of handling maybe 5 - 10 conenctions from the internet.

I have looked at different offerings out there; Freeswan, PoPToP, OpenVPN, TinC. but i am only a linux newbie and i get shivers everytime the instructions say i must recompile the kernal!

Has anyone out there set up one of these packages on a debian box?

Which is the easiest to set up? or has a 'step by step' install for newbies?

Do all vpn programs excapsulate, encrypt and compress the data as standard?

    Thanks in advance.

    Adrian
