Anyone know of any good travel agents for booking Nile tours... basically, I want to travel while I sleep, wake up and I'm somewhere interesting to look at :) Makes the most of time. (a friend of mine did a tour like this a few years ago with Micheal Stein travel, but they appear to have discontinued that package).

I've seen some Nile cruises online, but they are more of the pleasure barge idea with everything provided on board the boat etc. and run in the high thousands (dollars). My budget is more around the 1 to 1.5k (total including flights etc).

Ebookers have an Adventure holiday package, but considering that you seem to spend the majority of your time travelling it's a bit steep (475) for trip only (flights, food etc added on top would bring it well over the 1k and you get none of the extras).

You don't necessarily have to go by boat to this. Theres an overnight train running the length of the country Cairo to Aswan. So you could do Cairo then travel down to Aswan. Then you could do a cruise or cheaper fellucca trip back down river to Luxor taking in the temples in between Edfu and Esna primarily, then do Luxor. Kumuka, imaginative traveller do trips excluding flights. Its a fantastic country I travelled there last year independently.

    well, I found this place

    www.milanotravel.net

based in Egypt and have decided to do their Aquarium tour. Not only does it kick the arse off anything I have found in travel agencies here (all laze around beach type stuff) but it's much cheaper too! :)

The staff are very friendly and answer any enquiries extremely quickly (average turnaround time for my questions was about 10 minutes). Hopefully this is an indication of how good the tour service is.

Thanks for the reply Comet. Helped a lot when I was asking about details.

Yeah that looks good, what I don't see there is Philae temple which is just south of Aswan. Its usually done on the way back from Abu Simbel which is optional on your tour. When you're in the neigbourhood I would say do it, its a 290km trip south through the dessert to see Abu Simbel and take in Philae on the way back to Aswan. I really liked Philae and you should see that at least if you don't fancy heading all the way to Abu Simbel.

The price for that tour is amazing! It looks well-planned as well. Depending on how much it will cost you to fly, it seems like that is the way to go as it'll fall right within your budget.
    Good Luck!
