I want to take the noisy little bastard off to be honest. lol

I bought the Zalman Northbridge heatsink to stick it on but it does not have holes to fit. It has these little bracket things.

Can anything be done? Its the only thing stopping my pc from being pretty silent.

    Noisy little bastard.

    :p

if it's the Max 2 version of the board yes it can, there was a few boards with a faulty fan that could potentially fall off.

as for fitting the zalman i dunno my ic7 northbridge fan is fine and dandy

Those Abit NB fans can be really loud, especially on startup. To fit the Zalman, you'll need to do some light modding (you could use epoxy, but it's permanent and not advised).

I used two pieces of dowel rod and the clips from the stock fan:

    Wow thats pretty thoughtful.

So those clips, did you have to bend them to accomodate that or are they like that as standard?

They're like that already. They were attached to a metal ring that held down the hsf.

Alternatively, you can cut 2 pins from each corner of the heatsink, and fit the ring over it.
