A friend of mine would like to receive the above via satellite, some help please?

I propose to ring Sky from Ireland tell them I have a second hand box (eBay) that I do not wish to plug in to a telephone line and as I understand it, because its a second hand box i am not obliged to connect it to a phone line.
I will give Sky his version number etc but I assume he will need a Bank account set up here.
What is the minimum subscription required
Has anyone done this? If so, what is the best way to do it.

    Thanks in anticipation

The best way to do it to be honest is a straight subscription swap with your friend.
Get them to send their sky card over to you and you sent yours to them.
Then you ring Sky here in Ireland with his UK box details saying you have changed your box and get him to do the same in the UK.

Voila you are watching his Sky UK subscription here in Ireland and he is watching RTÉ in the UK.
Both would have to be out of contract boxes so no phoneline issues and make sure you have all the correct version numbers and serial number etc in front of you when calling.

We've never had a non-sub card scheme so unless you take the southern subscription route you're stuck with aerial fiddling, if that's an option.
