Lost emails after entourage Rebuild

I'm hoping you guys can help me out here..

I've lost a years worth of sent items from my Sent Items
Folder in Entourage X. I'll explain below the steps I took..

    1. ) Entourage wouldn't launch so i tried a couple of things like
dragging the entourage preferences to trash and updated
entrourage to the lastest security update.

2.) After this failed, i did a (normal) Rebuild on the Identitiy that wouldn't
launch. This rebuild failed at about 20% completed as the drive was out
    of disk space.

3.) I searched the hard drive and found a lot of 'Old Database 1/2/3 etc"
all were about 1.5 - 2GB so we trashed these.

4.) Tried a normal rebuild again, which failed and advised us to do an
    advanced rebuild.

    5. ) Did the advanced rebuild, identity launched no problem, just had to
set up one or two pop accounts again.

Problem : All of the sent Items from 2004 are missing and possibly more we
    Havn't discovered yet.

    - Should the advanced rebuild option actually *delete emails?
    - Are the sent items *somewhere on the disk and there is a way of extracting
    them back out?
    - If so how can we do this?

    * One thing i did notice was that even when trying to open an "Database Rebuild" which is a bigger file size then the current database it shows the same information. This leads me to believe that im not opening the Database rebuild right or i need to do something first...possibly extract it??

Not really suprised it didnt work I'm Afraid,

Entourage has know issues with mailbox's over 1 gig, sure there was a thread around here about this.

Guess after so many mails beig lost from my acc's (due to email app failure) in the past, I'v come to expect that anything from MS is going to cause me alot of data loss at some stage.

The mails would usually be in the hard disk > documents > microsoft > user data > entourage

Think the above is right anyhow, def in the documents microsoft area anyhow :P
did you totally trash the 2 gig files ?

If not you may be able to import them or transfer them to another mail app e.g. thunderbird temporarily ?

Didn't totally trash the files no,
Just deleted some really old archives from March..

Kept the latest mailbox backup and have since tried creating
a new identity folder - dragging in the backup database , renaming
then switching into new identity but it appears the backup database is corrupt
    too!

Thanks for the tip though, I might try and get them into a different app, its a long shot but worth a go..
