So what did everyone think? Thought it was quite nice, suited the tone of the show even if I knew where it was going, up to and including the final moment. Far far better than the Friends finale...

It all ended tonight. One of the most consciectantly brilliant television programs of all time is over.
Frasier signed off for good. I have to admit that it was one of the most enjoyable hours of television I have ever seen.

Hopefully the suggested spin off series will be as good.

It was ok... it felt a little rushed.

Like daphne goes into labour, then suddenly the baby's born

What's this about a spin off?

would that be the first ever 3rd generation tv series?

I hate to say it, but maybe they should leave well enough alone. Since Daphne and Niles got together, Frasier hasn't been as funny as before. It was still a cut above the rest, but not a patch on what it was.

As things stand, there's a pretty untarnished legacy of roughly 250 episodes of comedic gold. A spin off couldn't win in that Frasier was losing ratings so there's nothing to suggest demand for more of the same, and even if there was demand, there'd always be people (like..er...me!!!) who'd whinge and say 'It's not as good...'

i think the spin off may revolve around Niles, correct me if im wrong!

thought the show was brilliant over the years, coltrane was hilarious last night, i hope the spin off will be just as good but thats gonna be tough!

This has sort of happened before with The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

It had a bunch of spin-offs including Lou Grant, Rhoda and Phyllis. But I'm not sure of the sequence, or if they are all second generation.

Having said that - The Mary Tyler Moore Show grew out of The Dick Van Dyke Show, so maybe you could argue that.

    I've confused myself now.

1000 times better than the friends finale.

I loved the bit at the end where the dad says
this chair is extremly comfortable. I could have gotten used to this
    or something to that affect

Niles stopped being funny when he got happy. First rule of writing decent situation comedy - you need characters trapped in a situation from which they're trying to escape...

Only fools and horses - del et al want be leave the grotty flat and become millionaires
Father Ted - escape from the island, the other priests, etc
Alan Partridge - his life is so crap...
Phoenix nights - it's hardly butlins, is it!
The Office - need i say more

(This also explains why The Vicar of Dibley is ****e, btw)

Apply to the spin off from Frasier....Niles - he's finally gotten the girl, had the kid...dammit he's had 7 odd years of misery trapped with Maris. Give the lad a break, willya!

I thought Robbie Coltrane was the un-funniest thing I've ever seen in Frasier. I did like the finale though.

He played a Boomhower type character from king of the hill, I think he'd be more funny to the American audience.

"which foot is missing two toes?"
he points to his brothers foot! hehe.

good gag with Niles and the monkey-baby too.

Agreed. It's not just him though, all of Daphney's family I find really irritating.
I cant belive there is talk of another spinoff. They should definatly leave it be.

I had been watching Frasier on RTE1 on Sunday nights when the episodes stopped a few weeks ago for Euro2004.

Just by chance I turned on Network 2 last night about 11.15 and found a new episode of Frasier just started.

After checking on NBC.com I found it was the next episode after the last one they showed so I havent missed anything but it would have been nice to know in advance that RTE changed the day and the time and the channel and had in fact continued with the series.

With only three episodes now left I would have been pissed off if I had missed them.

/me adds this to my list of complaints about RTE mental-defective scheduling.
