Oh its the real deal alright... The sales of the dvd sets were so high that it caused the Fox executies to rethink cancelling the show. Speculation is that it won't be ready for air until sometime next year...

A movie. How would u go about a family guy movie? It would probably just be like one of those simpsons roadtrip specials or something like that.

Yeah I bought series 1 & 3 at €25 a piece there great value. I might get series 2 but I didn't like it as much as 3.

Airing in the US from the start of 2005.

I'm in the minority and actually thought the 1st Series was the weakest of the three!

All 3 series are hilarious - but Series 1 just didn't make me laugh as much as Series 2 and 3.

You're all very lazy aren't you? It's called Google. Sheesh. For example click on Q3 here on the FOX website and you'll see that Family Guy season 4 has been commissioned but does not yet have an airdate. It's on FOX itself so I think you can rest assured that it's fairly official news.

What is this google you speak of ?:D

I think I read somewhere (may have been IMDB) that the plot of the film is Stewie coming to terms with being gay or something like that.

    Yeah, that was IMDB alright:
Based on the popular series, the movie follows the disfunctional Griffin family, in which the young domation-bent baby, Stewie, discovers he is a homosexual.

But that plotline was on IMDB well before Season 4 was announced, so maybe it's changed now that plans for a film are probably on the back burner.

Get a load of why itr was banned in the first place...

    linky!

Seth McFarlane's old schoolmaster spearheaded a campagn against the show.

Philip Morris already had bought commercials in "Family Guy" to advertise a "youth smoking prevention" campaign. After getting Schell's letter, the company decided to withdraw support for the show, because, as company spokeswoman Mary Carnavale put it, "it is not consistent with our values as a company."

"not consistent with our values as a company"
Bit rich coming from Philip Morris.

I'm a bit worried about content control this time. For starters it's under the auspices of the ultra-right wing FOX. Family Guy is definetely left wing (they give Bush a right ribbing in S3 in one episode) and is certainly not PC. Given the recent Nipplegate, does anyone else fear MacFarlane is going to be told to tone it down?

    Yeah, completely!
Considering there was that episode where the whole family were smoking their brains out.
I mean you try and cater for the advertisers and this is what you get. :D

Good news about a 4th season.
I'd never really watched it til my bro went out and got all 3 seasons on dvd.

Well, while Fox is ultra right, they've built their channels up on sleeze, sleeze and more sleeze, from what I've seen on Fox News, they've been pushing against censorship (saying Stern is being victimised, and 'Nipplegate' wasnt that big a deal). If Murdock was forced to PC all his stuff he'd have nothing but series 1 of the simpsons left. While I dont think Fox will put pressure on Family Guy to tone down, Im not sure if the FCC will be as nice.

interesting section here, from the Canadian comedy festival... there's a once off Family Guy Live! show on, including a Q and A session with McFarlane, would love to see it, i wonder if its just basically a script reading on stage, or a play.. or something like that.

It's interesting to see a lot of people here caught it only when it hit DVD. Anyone else a hardcore original, like myself, who watched it from its first airing here?

if i had of known about family i wouldve watched it from day one, sadly i didnt, but still, i have them all on dvd now, and know them inside out. Bring on the movie and series four.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,080 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

He said the movie may not be amde but tehre is a 3 part episode thingy... He said there may also be a movie in the future but not until they have finished making the series's. He also said that in his opinion Family guy is back for good !

They will make a MINIMUM of 35 episodes ( and most likely keep going after series 4 )

His other cartoon 'american dad' sounds really good too. Im more excited about Family guy season 4 than I am about Batman: Begins :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,604 ✭✭✭irishgeo

i am looking forward to american dad too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 233 ✭✭istep

Yeah ... can't wait 4 series 4 ... I too am onboard since the dark dark days of season 1 !

His series american dad will begin airing the day after the superbowl just as family guy did when it was first aired. family guy in my opinion since i have been watching since day one like ixoy asked has already surpassed the now long outdated simpsons and if and i think it will keep goin as it is will set a new benchmark for adult cartoons.

family guy is quite simply the best thing on telly.
i always kinda thought it was better that stewie's sexuality was always alluded to by brian.
but stewie is based on rex harrison and that english posh-gent type of character.

anyway the box set is cool, the interview with the cast on the extra disc is good.
