Does anyone other there have experiences of chartering an airplane.

I was thinking of getting one to fly to the Faroe Islands for the Ireland game in June 2005.

Heh , this is a bad idea (but i like it)

Are you a qualified pilot (or have a licence that will allow you to charter for hire/reward ??? )

to be honest it will cost you far more to charter a plane then to go on a commercial flight , lots and lots more , and given that ireland are playing them soon there will be 1 day return flights going over to the island (leaving on the same day)

but if you still want to do it then possibly post more info on how many people you want to bring , which will determine plane type and easier to work from there

    Have you a budget , a co-pilot or a pilot even ???

    Hope this helps

p.s. many schools charter and lease planes , fly them yourself is far cheaper (and more fun) , but once yo know the numbers of people it will be easier to work from there

There are a few different places in ireland that do aircraft charter but it depends
on how many people you are talking about. Most as far as I know do small enough
luxury jets such as lear jets for corporate charters..

But they may be able to point you in the right direction..

Give them a shout and see what they say

    FirstFlight
    WestAir
    National Flight Centre
    SouthAer

    Anglo European

There are also a few others but I think these are mostly for cargo:

    European Air Charter Centre
Mount Barker, Lissenhall, Swords, Co Dublin, Ireland.
    Tel: 00353 (0)1 840 6591
    Fax: 00353 (0)1 840 1733

    Air Contractors
The Plaza, New Street, Swords, Co Dublin, Ireland.
    Tel: 00353 (0)1 812 1910
    Fax: 00353 (0)1 812 1919

    Air Charter Service

Wasn't there a Limerick rugby club stopped from chartering a plane by the Dept of Transport as they weren't a licenced tour operator?

I am not sure why they were stopped; I will have to have a look back through the newspapers about it.

Approx 100 people in the group. The idea would be to get an all in package (plane, pilot etc) and then share the price between the group, strictly non-profit.
Whether such packages exist in Ireland, I don't know.

I am aware that travel agency will be going to the game, day trip or otherwise, but I am looking into this as an alternative

Thanks for the links ToxicPaddy, most seem to be small\corporate services.

try weston aerodrome, under the banner of irish flight school .theres a couple of big planes out there.

also check for companies up in northern ireland that do this , google is your friend.

or you could just borrow a government jet for your recreational purposes , all the ministers get away with it :p

let us know how you get on though ,
