Firefox / Wingate Proxy Problem

    Hey,

I have temporarily setup a proxy so a bunch of people can access the net through ISDN (waiting for bloody Eircom to install our DSL ). It all works fine except for when I submit a form in Firefox. I get the following error:
    Browser Error

Your Browser sent a malformed request. You may need to configure your browser to use proxies, or you may need to change the port that your webserver is using.

This problem does not appear when I use IE. This is fine for me, but for people using Macs, there is no workaround. All browsers throw up errors when submitting stuff. This poses a problem since a lot of work is done through web forms etc.

I have isolated where the problem lies, but I'm not sure what I can do to fix it. The problem is that when a form is submitted, Wingate (version 6.0) sees it as a non-proxy request. It is currently set to reject the request, but the other options I have don't really shed any light:

I can 'Pipe request through to predetermined server' and it asks for an IP and port, I can redirect client to a predetermined location (asks for URL) or I can 'Serve Request' and it asks for webserver details.

Any ideas what I can do so that forms will submit correctly? (Maybe it's a browser setting?)

    Many thanks!

    Serb

I'm not sure if there's a similar option in Firefox (not home at the moment to check), but in IE there's an option you can turn on/off called "use HTTP1.1 through proxy connections". Try changing that if there's a similar one in firefox.

    Hey Stephen,

Thanks for the reply but appears that there are no options like that in Firefox :( The number of options actually seem pretty limited in general. Thanks for trying though. Anyone else with any ideas?

    Thanks,
