Broken Tape - Anywhere it can be repaired?

This might be in the wrong place, if it is, then I apologise.

My mother has this classical music tape from Austria, and recently when she went to play it, the Stereo didnt like it and decided to break it.

Me being the mechanical minded person I am decided to take the tape apart to fix it. However, it all went wrong somewhere around the time I opened it up and it all unravelled and bits of metal fell all over the place

What I want to know, is there anywhere in Ireland that can just take the magnetic roll and record it onto a new tape, because this tape means a lot to my mother.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Once you re roll it and have enough tension on it it will still play around the bits that arent damaged so could make a recording of it.

use Goldwave and copy it onto a PC into MP3.

The mechanics of a tape aint that hard ,just get another and use it as the carrier ,you will lose parts where it broken just be sure to stop the tpae before it comes to the break and hand roll it pst the break and keep recording.

I have done this before :)

Unless the tape itself is badly mangled it will be repairable, although there will be drop-out at the break and distortion at any bits that are stretched or cannot be flattened out properly.
If you were local I would offer to do it. Anyone with experience at reel tape editing would be able to fix it. TBH it is not that difficult it just requires patience and a light touch. It just needs to be flattened out and spliced together and put back in the cassette housing, if it is all tangled up then don't pull at it, audio cassette tape is very thin and easily stretched and it cannot be un-stretched.

As an alternative have you checked to see if the music on the tape is available commercially either on cd or cassette?
