My girlfriend get an itchy rash on her tummy from any belt she wears if its made of metal and rubs off her skin. She also gets it of cheap jewlery. i heard somewhere before that it has to do with an alergy to nickel..?
Can anyone tell me if this is true and where in Dublin ye can get belts that wont cause this irritation?

Nickle allergy is nasty but incredibly common. Little flakes of the metal get into the skin and cause hell. They showed it on TV recently and it made me queazy. I've always had problems with specs so I know the feeling.

Basically she should get a tester, they're little strips that contain nickle and you wear them for a few hours/minutes/days to see if that's the problem. They just stick to your skin like a band-aid.

Anything Titanium, Stainless Steel etc will be totally safe to wear. I'm sure plenty of belts etc will have this on them, otherwise have a flick around the internet. Most things are printed "Stainless Steel" anyway. A lot of watches are marked "Nickle Back" on them, they should be avoided because they make you sing like a whiney bitch ;o)

Jewellery, glasses etc are often marked "nickle free" so she should always check that too.
