Natural Born Killers in 1995 on a VHS tape. I'm pretty sure it was a second or third generation copy of an American video of it.

First digital bootleg was Fellowship of the Ring, the DVD screener.

ET on Betamax prior to cinema release in Ireland.

And no, I'm not taking the p1ss.

Return of the Jedi on VHS before the cinema release....quality was pretty good as I remember....Well compared to standard VHS.

Jurassic Park on VHS prior to the initial release. Crap Quality, loads of people's heads in the way etc

Digital it would have been The Fellowship of the Ring DVD Screener on DivX.

Similar....ET on VHS after cinema release (Spielberg didn't release ET on video for /ages/ after the cinema). Quality was good as I recall.

Old School??! That's last year stuff, n00bie :p

Seen the matrix cam job when it came out in 1999 thanks to a mate. And The Phantom Menace shortly followed. Great times. Everyone was delighted with cam jobs, we didn't care if it was totally crap quality which it was. Then divx 3 came on the scene and blew everyone away.

Now I won't accept anything less than xvid, with qpel and GMC for quality :)

    Good thread topic dogz!

I saw Terminator II: Judgment Day on VHS as it was in the cinemas here.
I'm struggling to recall my first film on my PC though. It was before Fellowship anyway...

Lethal Weapon II and The Fly II on very very dodgy VHS I think they came from the Lebanon but it was a long long time ago... Dont think they were cams just heavily copied.

My first SVCD/VCD's were a cam copy of StarWars Episode I which I promptly showed to my mate who was heading to the states the next day just to see it early... Quality was OK nothing to rave about typical cam.

    Slpery slope after that ;)

OK - when were you doing mp3s? Remember those days when you could only play the first 30 seconds before you had to buy the player? Before WinAmp existed? Ahh memories!

ET on VHS, about 6 months before it hit the cinema in Ireland. Watched it so many times that by the time it hit the cinemas i couldn't be arsed going to see it on the big screen. :o

The quality of the tape wasn't great although I didn't know it at the time. It was only when the merchandising started hitting the shelves that I realised ET was brown not green. True story.

As for all this digital jiggery-pokery, I still haven't seen a pirated movie on CD-R, DVD-R, etc. - mainly because my DVD player doesn't support them (it's an old Toshiba) and it just ain't the same watching movies on a computer monitor.

First ever of which I was aware: Jurassic Park, VHS, quite posibly the same one as you Eoin.

Digital: can't remember, saw someone watching a film on their PC, asked them why did they pay for a DVD with such bad quality, noticed they didn't ahve a DVD drive, found out about Divx 3.11alpha

Would of been most films in the 80's I seen.
This guy used to run a video shop down the road, and it was shut down. Used to come around the doors and sell copies of hem at cheap prices, and he used to get stuff that wasn't out yet. Everyone bought them.

Hmmm, sad and all, but thew lion king on VHS a long time before it was out here. I remember my friend got it from oman off some realition of his. Next thing i remember was fight club, and then resident evil on a VCD which came from London.

from tmanfunnily enough, the only film that i haven't been able to rip properly is pirates of the carribean

I spent a long time trying to converyt this film. In the end Auto GK did the job and its a piece of piss to use. Make sure you rip in ifo mode, its a lot easier then.
