Argos have some for 40, there is a goodmans with 40 minutes anti shock great player ,i used it a lot when cycling and it never skipped once.

I assume you want a cd player that plays mp3 cds? Cos 200 is a lot for one as they mostly less than a 100 unless Sony specials.

Stay well away from that goodmans thing, it stinks pretty bad. Gank features and unbearably low volume plus brutal headphones. Spend the money and get a top notch one, Sony's always have great sound.

On the other hand buy a 30 gig Creative mp3/HD.

    Thanx for the info, people!!

I had a look at the sony site and it has cd walkmans that
play ATRAC files, what the hell are atrac files, is it just another term for mp3 files or is it something totally different?

atrac is what sony use on MD's. Its sh1te. Doom9 did a table and atrac came out last by a long shot, but AFAIK the sony mp3 cd player play mp3's also, so thats not too bad. Invest your money in a decent brand and you'll be happy. You can get a very good one for a lot less than €200, but i don't know any specifics.
I've stopped being biased towards MD now as i've got my IHP. I'll never look back. Sony own fault, they restricted MD too much in the NET MD system. I'm surprised it hasn't been cracked, or maybe it has, i havent checked in a while. Anyway, ATRAC is bad.

the sony mp3/cd players have good quality-- but this is because in order to play mp3s burned onto discs, they have to be of a pretty high bitrate, which means some of your older or smaller mp3s will not play in the player if you put them on a CD.

i would definately second the recommendation for a creative HD mp3 player, or even an ipod or something similar. at least then you KNOW how limited you are in terms of what you can/can't play.

I think Aria http://www.aria.co.uk used to sell own-brand cd/mp3 players that were pretty OK, the only thing was that when you were burning the mp3 disks, you had to put the mp3s in a directory on the disk, otherwise they would not be seen.....
