Better off flying to Paris I think, You can see London anytime..
and IIRC the supplement through the chunnel is pretty steep..

Couchettes are great.. (sleeping on the train)
as you kill 2 birds... but book in advance
or you may end up trying to sleep on seats,
    which is not comfortable..
The supplement is worth it as you'd be spending
    the money on hostels anyway..

Keep an eye on yer bag..
Keep it close to you when sleeping on the trains..
My ex-g/f worked in a hotel in Nice and had
    loadsa backpackers arriving bagless,
having got the overnight train from Paris..

Apart from that you'll have a ball..
    I loved Venice & Munich..
check out Mikes bike tours in Munich..
Eastern Europe is probably a good place to check
out although I didn't manage it back then..

A good route is to do a circle from Paris..
catching Italy, and eastern europe on the way..

Me and a few buddies are doing the same this year sometime in August. We are flying into Frankfurt Hann and then onward to Eastern Europe. Should be a great experience. Theres a good book out which is specifically for interrailing which lists hostels and stuff like that. Must seek a copy

    Hi,

I did interrailing a few years ago. Did 2 and a half weeks. Flew into Pisa in Italy, travelled by train to Rome and then to Ancona. Got a ferry to Split in Croatia. We then headed up to Ljulbana, Vienna and Venice. We flew out of Venice. We camped in most places and all trains etc are very cheap. We flew Ryanair both over and back and all flights very SOOO cheap. Best way to do it. I've also been island hopping last year in Croatia, well recommended. Again, don't book any accomodation or trains etc beforehand, so easy to find!

    Have a great time!!
