Ring up the bank ASAP to cancel the cards, you should find their phone numbers on any statements you have, or just ring ddirectory enquiries. If you still have the box that the phone came from, it's on that. Otherwise, you can try ringing your operator (Vodafone, Meteor, O2) and see if they can sort anything out. Report it stolen and they should be able to block the simcard, but not too sure about the phone. They would have the IMEI number, but I don't know if they can block it like that. If you have any ID in your bag with your home address on it, then maybe consider changing your locks.

You could probably report all of the above to the gardaí as stolen... but that probably won't do you much good.

    Ring your bank.
Ring your mobile phone service provider.

You'll never see the bag or its contents ever again.

Check the bins of the surrounding areas, you never know, at least you may find your handbag.

First report it to the Guards, chances of them getting your stuff back is very low but you will probably need a report filed/ reference number to get the other stuff sorted out.

Contact your phone company to cancel IMEI and sim card.

Your bank card should be useless to the theiving scum (unless it's a laser card) but ring your bank asap to get it cancelled.

If your phone is pay monthly then you are bunched, you're leaving this a bit late.

Your bag will probably turn up minus the contents

there should be a 24 hour phone line for this kind of thing with your bank, check the phone book

machine? those people are on €8 an hour! be nice

    Barbie,

If you're ringing your branch then it will be an answering machine. You need to ring AIB 24hour banking on 1890 242424 or BOI banking 365 on 1890 365365. There's no need to wait till tomorrow and if you do there'll be lots of charges on your account and if they guess your pin, no money in your bank a/c!

    *Edit*
Actually, I've just checked the BOI site and apparently they don't work on a Sunday!
Ring the AIB number anyway and they should have contact numbers to block down your other cards.

Barbie, it could be worth having a look around the area of the nightclub you were in. People that nick bags etc tend to ditch them pretty fast. It'll no doubt have no cash or your phone in it but you might get the bag itself and an.y make-up etc you had in it

I agree it's unlikely that someone would be able to guess it but it's not impossible, and could take less tries than one would think as this story from the register indicates.

The point I was trying to make was : why take the risk?

Derren Brown did it... OK so he kinda had a help but still... Anyway people have the unluck to be hit by lightning with far higher odds - no point in risking any of it... And if your bank card is also a Laser Card then the robber could be happy as Larry, since shop attendants rarely question signature authentication.

Also , it may be worth your whhile to ring your phone provider and once they verify your details ask them to send you the last 10 dialled numbers (if your post-pay this will come up on an itemised bill)

Then give the numbers you don;t know to the Gardai who will work from there (ahem, no doubt in teams of detectives working in shifts around the clock :)

but also if you get the numbers that may have been dialled by said thief then i'm sure the folks here can come up with a plan from there ......

On a similar topic, earlier this year I spotted a Louis Vuitton handbag and it's contents on the side of the road, I stopped the car, picked up the contents which included all her id, makeup and a louis vuitton murakami purse. I brought it to the cops and handed it in. They took my name and number so when the returned it to the owner she could call me. The ignorant cow never even bothered!!! The LV's bag and purse were fakes of course

Erm...your card gets swallowed if you enter the wrong pin 3 or 5 times, it doesn't matter if you're using different machines - or machines in a rural area?!?

Yeah a few years ago my dumb ma forgot her pin, after two she took it out and went to a different machine thinking it wouldn't know she was at the last one and it ate her card after her first attempt.
