WinXP Privileges Problem

    THE BACKGROUND
I'm a very experienced user of the W98 operating system and network. I know very little about WinXP. I just got a new Dell PC with XP Professional. It was bought second hand but "as new" with no software loaded.

    THE PROBLEM
I "seem" to have Administritive Priviledges, however when I go to do most things that reqiire Administritive Priviledges I'm told that don't have them. For example I cannot install Office XP as the system will not allow the updated windows installer.

    MY EFFORTS
Computer management from the admin tools in the control panel indicate that all users are members of the Adminstrators Group. I can create new users in all groups.
All user that I have created are based on the "Built-in a/c" in the administration group. I've spent hours going through every menu and option I can find. I've given up and am now appealing for help from anyone out there.

Are you logging on using the administrator account or an account with administrative privilages?
I'd recomend removing everyone from the administrators group and adding everyone to the power users group. Then logon with either the administrator account or an account which is specified in the administrators group.
    Hope this helps.
