    Spec;

    HDD IDE 120GB Samsung SP1213N 8MB

CPU AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Tray with Kühler S478/S754 ZALMAN CNPS-7000-AlCu

    128MB Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro Lite-RTL

    MB ATX S754 MSI MS-6702 K8T Neo-FSR

DDR PC400 512MB Mushkin Basic Green

    Combo LiteOn SOHC-5232K Retail

    SX630 II MT 300W 3x5.25" 2x3.5" ATX

Me and my mate build the rig. We are not very experienced builders so..

On power on the case fan + cpu fan spin and things seemed good , but the gfx fan didnt move. Nothing happens on the moniter. I left it for 15 seconds and powered off. I tried the gfx card in my system and it worked fine and tried mine in his and we had the same problem. I tried boot with mobo / gfx / ram / fans and had same problem. Some one said the 300w antec psu wuldnt be enough to power everything? Or maybe a dodgy agp slot? Again we are not experienced builders so dont expect much from us :/ All mature helps appreciated.

EDIT - Also tried an old geoforce2 mx400 , and that didnt work either.

    Cheers Adam

What wattage PSU is in your unit that it worked on?

I would be of the opinion that it is the PSU in this system. 300w would be low enough for the spec you are running. How many HDD, ROM Drives ect are you powering ?

It would be a toss up between a faulty AGP slot and the PSU. Have you tried a PCI graphics card to see if it works from that?

A 300w antec psu would be more than enough to provide a post.

I would make sure the GFX card is seated fully & correctly, also the Ram.

I would clear the BIOS and boot, see if it posts.

Also make sure no part of the MB is touching the case, make sure the stand offs are correct.

    Thanks JoePC

Did you build the PC yourself?

The only way to properly check is to take the motherboard out and make sure the stand offs are in the right place, First tho open the case on the other site (Back of MB facing you) you should see the screws for the standoffs if there is any.

    Thanks JoePC

If it is the AGP slot,

When the card is put in make sure there is no gold contacts showing, AGP slots in twice so make sure its firmly pushed down.

    Thanks JoePC

Just take the whole thing out of the case and put it on a wooden table - try and see if you can get a POST with as small an amount of hardware as you can i.e. start with no HDD and see if it comes up on the screen complaining about it keep adding HW until the problem reappears - or not.

I took all of it out and tried to power on , same problem. Any other ideas? Or at this stage would it be okay to assume its a faulty agp slot?
    All help appriceated.

    Cheers , Adam.
