    Hi all!

I have Norton AntiSpam and the adblocking software that comes with it and it used to totally block out all the **** spam. Now it has just stopped working altogeather. It says it is turned on and the option are in my email account but it is not blocking a single mail. I checked the stats and it has 0 block and 0 proper mail coming through so it is obviously not doing its job properly since I reinstalled it.

Any ideas? It is really annoying especially since i get 50/70 spam a day in my personal eircom mail account.

Keep telling it that it's spam and will automatically start filtering spam from mail.

    Jozi

If you realy get so much spam a day why not get a new e-amil account else where?

You say you reinstalled,so firstly make sure to download everything in Live Update,as once reinstalled you loose all your updates.

Secondly in options at the top of the Norton main window as opposed to configure at the right hand side, check the settings.

Set the training to monitor outgoing email and set the training options to "ask before adding"

In configure, import your address book and create an allowed list only if nesscary,so only addresses on this list will be allowed. In options you can block everything not on your allowed list.

If you get Spam in your inbox that is not identified by the filter, mark it with the Norton Plug in so it can be identified in future. It will quickly build up a list of blocked addresses.

Ok all done. Thanks for tips. Unfortunatly the problem still remains.

What appears to be happening is all of antispam as a program is not working even though it says it is on and working. It does not block ANY pop ups and spam is still in. It has thousands of blocked addresses and is not blocking anything. It is basically totally unneffective. It used to work brilliantly for me. Antispam and the ad blocking but since I had to reformat my pc and re-install everything it just will not work AT ALL!

    Very annoying.

    Any other ideas?

Go into Start-Admin tools-Services and make sure all the Norton and Symantec Services you use are set to automatic.

There is also an application you can download from the main Symantes site, which runs a diagnostic of all your Symantec products.

Do a full antivirus scan to be on the safe side,as I found in the past some virius can actually change the Norton settings to ignore them.Check the exclude settings in NAV and reset them to page defaults. This is probably not related but is no harm to do.

Finally try a reinstall of Norton if nothing else seems to work.

Sorry I cannot help further,as I am no expert, just going on my personal experience of Norton products, which a lot of people here seem to despise, but I have found them very reliable.

Ok i did what you said Mickey and went to admin tools then services but norton antispam was not in the list. So it got me thinking that there may be a problem with it. So I am going to reinstall even though I did it a few days ago and it still didn't help but it may do this time.

Thanks for the advice. Antispam is really really effective when it works. I hope it sorts itself out!

I think the "Script Blocking Service" covers all ad blocking and the likes.

Do a "Check Security" test on the main Norton interface also.
