Newbie question

    Apologies if this is answered somewhere, but I've looked around and can't find anything on it.

    Just got my card today. Currently I'm not able to take advantage of the Sky+ features such as pausing and recording as the box tells me I must upgrade to receive these. What does this mean? How do I get access to these features, and do I have to pay extra?

    You will have to contact sky directly on 0818 719 819. They will send a re-activation signal to your box which will take 2-3 minutes to active the sky+ features. Sky+ features cost €15 extra per month, unless you have two or more premium services from sky.

    It's a second box on a subscription (the first isn't Sky+). Does any of that make a difference?

    No. Sky treat the Sky+ box as the main subscription.

    Do you have your box conneted to the phoneline?
    If you do, then try this:

    Press Services, 4, 0, 1, select.
    Select "New Installation".
    Make sure your phoneline is connected and viewing card is inserted. Leave the box to do it's thing until it says "installation complete". That should do it. If not call sky and ask them to activate the Sky+ features - you will need the viewing card no. and your account number.

    WARNING: DO NOT CHANGE ANY OTHER SETTINGS IN THAT INSTALLERS MENU.

    Are you sure it's 4, 0, 1? 4 brings me to System Setup but the 0 does nothing. The box is connected to a phoneline.

    EXIT In system set up 0 does not appear but you have to press it any way to get to installer set up. when you get there you then go to new installation take it from there. so press 4 0 1 select in that order

    Ah, that worked. Unfortunately, it didn't get Sky+ working, so I'll have to ring them later.
