Ypu dont need ecc ram for the amd 64. The old FX series (socket 940?) were the only ones with which you needed ecc ram.

Amd 64 (ie socket 754) uses regular single channel memory.

Slight correction, you needed Registered Memory for the FX's / Opertrons / Xeons / AMD MP's etc . You can get ECC ram that is registered and not registered. ECC is error correcting Ram . Non-Registered ECC is not recomended for FX's while Registered ECC is perfect ;)

AFAIK there should be no compatability issue. It arises with some boards the fact that its registered or not (you didnt say wheather is was or not - not sure if you ment it by certified).
Generally almost all the newer boards are supposed to support both, sometimes it requires a BIOS update.

FYI, while the standard Athlon64 should work with Reg ram, from 5 CPUs and 3 motherboards tested, it doesnt. Ive got redundant Corsair Registered PC3200LL here beside me to prove it!

Anyone want to buy a 512MB stick?

ouch. I'll swap to test in my A7N8x maybe if you have a GB, possibly a bit of cash trade too for some Mushkin lvl1 6-3-2-2 3200?

Don't think it will work in my board though..

I had 1GB of it originally, Ive been posting around Tech, Wanted, Forsale and Forsale Computers for over a month now, proposing a swap or sale and got nowhere.

Ive only got this single 512MB stick now...!
