ok, im no computer fool, but i can't change the wallpaper on my PC! Im running windows 2000 and anytime i go to display and change the wallpaper, its says its changed in the display box, but doesn't actually change at all. Instead, in the top left corner of the desktop, the little picture comes up to show that a picture is loading ( like on the internet when a picture is loading ) .I thought that it might have something to do with active desktop, but i have no other active things on the desktop. So can anyone totally embarrass me and tell me whats wrong!
    lol, thanks

Check that Display Properties / Web / Show Web Content on my Active Desktop is turned off, if you dont need anything from the web on your desktop..

Can you post a screenshot of what is being displayed?

basically all that is being shown, is the colour i set the desktop as in apperances. I can't post a pic, as its on my other pc, not connected to the net! The picture in the corner is the picture that you see first when a picture is loading on the internet (with 56k!) with the desktop surrounded by a frame. Its liket the computer is constantly searching for the picture, or some directory has been moved and it cant find it. Its a frame with a little small rectangle/square picture in the corner.argh i feel liek a fool

    Sounds really odd :dunno:
I assume you have checked and unchecked the active desktop setting. If not do that to see what happens.
Win 2K seems to be fussy about the type of picture you're trying to display. It'll only let you set a Jpg if active desktop is enabled otherwise it has to be a bmp.
Have a look at the extension and see.
The pictures you see in the display panel are loaded from two different places, one is the C:\winnt folder and the other is the My Pictures folder. If you have more than one user set up on the PC then you may be trying to load an image that is in another users pictures folder and it won't let you access it.

Other than that, maybe there's an error in the image (maybe in the header of the file) or it could in fact be an picture of that placeholder image :dunno:

yea, its real strange. It happens when trying to load any picture, jpeg or not. the weird thing is, i had them working till a week or so ago. There was no problem with wallpapers. That folder thing could be the problem.

I dont understand it at all.
