I was sure i'd posted this before. Mod - if I'm doing something wrong here, please let me know.

I ned to get my hands on two ringing phones for the stage, meaning that they can be operated - made to ring - from offstage and cut out by answering....

does anybody have such a thing? and cordless too?

I know, I know, I kind of threw that in at the end there....:(

It was probably due to the rollback when the DB chewed itself....

Your best bet here really would be two mobiles, i.e, ring them offstage when you need too. But most places (down the country anyway) would use sound effects, which can work if you get your timing perfect. But if you don't want the hassel use mobiles, some of the older mobiles look a bit like cordless phones and you can place them in some sort of cradle, who'll know the difference? Also most mobiles have the ordinary phone ringtone of ring ring.

    gogo.

Believe me, I've thought of these things, even down to how to stop one of your mates, who doesn't know you're in a show, from ringing to invite you out for a pint while you're standing in front of 70 people or so on opening night.

The problem with the venue in question is that sound effects will always come from the far left and far right of the stage and it'll be so damn obvious that the phone itself is not ringing. Call me a perfectionist.....

No, really. Call me a perfectionist.

how about just buying a simcard (that only vou would know the number to)?

Yeah, considered all those things, but I reckoned with live speakers on the go for the rest of the sound effects, the risk of that old bip biddybip biddybip coming through would be less than acceptable.

As it is, we're on stage tonight and the laptop that I brought in with another of my clever solutions programmed into it has become consigned to prop status rather than technical aid.

Oh well, we've far too many other things to be worrying about at the moment rather than that.

    wish me broken legs.....
