Was in Maplin yesterday. I went to the Components and Cables section to buy some cable and connectors. The maplin guy started telling me a few prices and then also said that they have some fixed lengths of cables 'over there near the door', and he begins to walk down towards door, I presume he's showing me where the cable is, instead he picks his keys off the desk and goes home! I've heard bad reviews about their customer service , I wont be going back!

I was barred from their Jervis Street store before over a faulty mobo about 3 years ago :D

But last time i was in(last monthor so) i was getting obscure ram for a obscure laptop and as info for the type of ram couldnt be obtained the lad let me try various types until it booted.
Very nice of him eventually got the right stuff cheap too.
So if you buy ram and its opened well you know it was me :)

I keep hearing them recommend Marx Computers, Peats and especially Komplett to their customers.

I needed an Athlon 64 heatsink in a hurry and they told us "Oh no we don't do anything like that, try Marx Computers or places online". I've heard them say that to others at least 3 times before ("Oh no we don't have that in stock, try Komplett.ie")

Hey you didn't buy some phono cables and take them back did you - cos I bought some at the weekend and noticed the pack had been stuck back together...Anyhoo I've never had any probs in mapper-dappers...I was in there with my mum once - she took out a sweet and one of the guys told her there was no food allowed in the shop!!

Well I can understand that as Maplin are more of an electronics components store than a computer store...

Odd, seeing as they sell computer parts aswell  It's been simple things at times too like I said, that they just don't have in stock that day/week. It's just odd is all.

A huge chunk of their shelf space is taken up with PC parts (ie virtually everything behind glass and good chunk of a floor space. They also sell heatsinks, they just dont keep them upto date (SocketA). I think Peats and Maplin like to delude themselves into pretending they are "not just PC stuff"..
