tis me on about the pigs again :)

after mayday and all that comparison of protest tourist and hooligans i was wondering if there was any other comparisons...

for example football fans being banned from travelling mistakenly and not being told why ... akin to the noflyban on lots of people in and out of america...

excessive police forced used in crowd control situations

i bet you remember the time when there was crowd trouble at the english irish match years ago remember he pictures of the guys ripping up and throwing chairs
and the police wading in batons flying

well there was one particualr guy among others who just happened to be sitting in that area he wasn't acting up at all and he viciously beaten by a riot cop... and to this day i don't he got any apology/recompense/justice/compensation for being hit by the rampaging cop....

theres quite number of stories of police heavy handedness at this things just charging in and hitting everyone in arms reach

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/hooligans/article/0,2763,1129378,00.html

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/hooligans/article/0,2763,1231915,00.html

was looking for pics of trouble in portugal
    and i found this site

    http://www.ultrasworld.com/contact4.htm

which talks about ultras ,about swaping either scarves etc or videos of riots...?

i remember there were stories about the ultras in dublin and one guy going on saying they are just active/passionate fans not hooligan groups??? i thought they were legitimate fans but this website above seems to say differnet unless there just a hardore outshoot of ultras who do go looking for trouble..

anyone fill me in on that

basically my point is that there could be some portugeuse guy out doing his weekly shopping get caught up in this and although he isn't approaching a cop, or raising up a hand or anysort of threatneing behaviour the cops will just start "calming" him just cos he standing in front of him...

and even beyond that any of the probably drunk fans probably have and will get beaten by the cops beyond what is necessary to subdue them as in the stories aboe they do not deserve to be treated this way either...

thats not to deny that the alot of people who are into mindles violence

Nice objective start to the post.

Here's my take on it. Whether I "just happen to be sitting in that area" or "out doing my weekly shopping" - if a riot starts somewhere near me, I don't plan to sit there waiting for the cops to get as far as me and then hope they can telepathically tell I'm not involved.

Me? I'm gonna run like f*ck in the other direction. But hey, maybe I've an over-developed instinct for self-preservation.

first point when tongue in cheek ya know not a big fan of cops as ppl have read by my other posts... thing is as i just say last night people constantly get caught up in riots and the police have absolutley no discernment of self control...

just last night another bit of video on the news last night im sure you saw it a young man enters shot and is grab by a riot cop... he is hit by another and falls to the ground then 3 among other riots cops all come and hit him again while he on the gournd already subdued now no matter what that guy has just done he doens't deserve that.../ or even its uneccesary for the cops to act like that

my proposition is that the not even "football fans" causing trouble deserve that sort of treatment from the cops

Sure, the Engerland fans are merely exercising their democratic rights to protest at having a sh|te team captained by a nancy boy.

The cops in the 2 incidents above were far too soft on the vermin. Her Majesty's Constabulary should have battered them into next week like the Gardai did in Lansdowne Road 10 years ago.
