None of those could be real rumours.

I think it's incredibly unfair of MCD to put the tickets on sale without announcing at least part of the support. I wouldn't pay that money to see Madonna but there could be impressive support that I would pay to see, but wont get a chance because it will have sold out.

It would have to be really amazing support to make it worth the asking price - I really can't see it being selling out. Sales might be marginally faster then they were for the Steriophonics but maybe not...

I suppose if she could persuade someone like Robbie Williams to play support to her it would become an attractive lineup to a lot of people (not me) although he did play last year also....

yeah but is anyone really going to spend 88 euro on a ticket?

I really dont think it will sell out. Maybe much closer to the date, and only if there's very good support. Bryan Adams would be more popular (well less hated anyway), and i dont think his slane gig sold out (not sure).

You'd be surprised at what will sell out. Last year, I found myself buying tickets to see the Rolling Stones in Twickenham, London. They hadn't announced an Irish date, I was living in London - tickets were a wallet-worrying £75. It would have been £150 to stand on the pitch. They sold out. Twice over. (Tickets I mean, not the band)

No more than Simon and Garfunkel, McCartney etc, people will pay this kind of money because there's a risk that the chance might not come again, the band/artist could die, and that the laws of supply and demand only work to push prices up. You can either 'lock-in' at the face value of the ticket and dammit - if you feel you can't justify going later on you'll sell it on, or you pay exorbitant prices on e-bay. (btw - already there are slane tickets for madonna advertised)

Short answer - i'd love to see somebody somewhere end up with egg on their faces and the Slane date not to sell out...dammit, most of us know how far the 'back' of slane is from the stage - and paying €90 for that kind of view is just daft..

however, as somebody who paid what i paid for the Stones last year, I'm afeared there are as many mugs as me out there who'll pay full whack for Slane...

Will the concert actually go ahead .
It is being sold "Subject to Licence" which is being contested by residents at the moment .

That brings back nice memories, paid a similar ticket for the Stones in Dublin last year, the tickets turned out to be fake:( (on the plus side I saw McCartney last week for 30euro:D)

The Darkness, Iggy and the Stooges, and Paul Oakenfold are the first batch of special guests.

good f*cking grief. Madonnas prime audience will be gays and thirtysomething women. They're gonna love The Darkness and Iggy.

Would you put Bellefire supporting Slipknot....

I cannot see the Hives supporting Madonna. I definitely can't see SFA supporting her!

In fairness, they have announced the support prior to tickets going on sale this morning ...

    The Darkness
    Iggy Pop & The Stooges
    Paul Oakenfold

and probably more to follow. I won't be in the Q for tickets myself.

Yeah I saw that, I had posted before they had. Is there a link for that support though, it isn't listed at either MCD or Ticketmaster...

In mcd.ie listings, haven't seen it on ticketmaster though

    All I see is...

"Now, Madonna’s devoted Irish fans will have a chance to see not only the Queen of Pop live in concert playing all of her greatest hits, but will also get the chance to see some very special guests yet to be announced."

Do you have a link to it?

Ticketmaster don't usually add in the support acts at any gig till quite late in the day. How fast are the Madonna tickets selling?

from the looks of things, they've not sold out yet. which is kinda what a lot of people were saying...or at least I was - for €90 you'd want to be guaranteed a good view. In a field the size of Henry Mountcharles' back yard, that ain't the case...

hasn't stopped the usual suspects on ebay giving it the usual SOLD OUT FRONT SEATS BUY NOW guff, mind...

It's easy to get a good spot - just head for the jacks to the right of the stage as your facing it, behind the screen blocking the stage. When you come out down there make a b-line for the centre, just behind the pit:D unless Madona's on the stage:(

Slane is a terrible venue, I swore never to go there again unless they ressurect Hendrix or Jim Morrison.
€88 euro is a joke too, I paid less to see RHCP, Foos and QOTSA last year, and I felt ripped off after that... and I love QOTSA and Foo's!!! (it was a terrible venue, plain and simple)

I think Slane is a superb outdoor venue! Went to my first outdoor concert there!

Slane is easily the best venue in Ireland!

Unlike Phoenix Park with it's slightly uphill slant making it a pain in the ar*e to see the stage!
