Has anyone used Advance Pitstop to service your car, as my 2000 1.8 Primera needs a service and a new set of rear tyres, and although the Nissan service is not too expensive I was hoping to get something cheaper as I am on a low budget atm.

http://www.advancepitstop.com/ service your car while you wait and no booking is necessary, plus they do tyres, the service they do is from €125 for cars up to 2 litre.

My car has 64,000 miles on it so I assume it needs a full service and probably a belt change.

I havent yet, but for those prices I'll certainly be giving it a go - last oil, oil & air filter cost me 180 euro and this was from a garage i was going to regularly.

Based on these prices it'll cost me 63 euro! big savings...

Have you had your timing belt changed? if not I'd recommend going to an authorised dealer, changing oil is an easy job once you have a car lift. But I'd be weary of someone like advanced pitstop doing such an important job - then again I could be wrong.

so are the services good though - might seem too good to be true - i have to get one on friday morning if i can and this would be a much easier option then going to renault direct - gonna cross my 10000 since last service tonight - it was serviced in feb - i think i drive too much :)

To my mind it misses out a major point of an annual service - and that is to have an experienced mechanic look at the car. If you are going down this route, I would have AA or RAC cover, as the chance of the car breaking down is much higher, because no preventative action will be taken beyond the basics

I have RAC so no probs there. I keep it in good nick to start with so I reckon I'll get away with it until next time and have a proper service garage do it next time 'round.

you would want to be out of your tree to go to advance pitstop,
there guy are not mechanics and have no training ,they are only interested in upselling you tyres and brakes etc, go and do a deal with your main dealer

I got my car serviced by them & all that was required was an oil change and the handbrake to be tightened & usual level checks, total of €79. They did not try to say this or that needed to be done with it like some main dealers I have brought the same car to.

The last service I got from a main dealer I was told I needed 2 new tyres and window wipers, total cost would have been €190 on top of service of €130 for the same as the pitstop service. The car was 2 years old at the time with about 24,000 km on the clock.

I didn't need new tyres until about 8 months later & they were still just above minimum wear marker, I got the rest of the summer out of my wipers (about 2 1/2 months more), total cost to replace all was €115.

    Main dealer my arse.......

If your car is in good repair and only requires a general service then use were you like

At my local pitstop there are windows so I could have watched them doing the whole service if I wanted.

I have heard of "think before you speak", but this is ridiculous.

i have a few friends who worked in advance and you are instructed to upsell on everything and these guys have not mechanical skill at all so a cheap fix can work out very expensive ,they dont even understand what type of oil different engines use eg sops oils
