Just wondering what people thought of the arrangements for the Luas on Heuston Bridge. I am surprised that pedestrians and the trams are on the same level with no demaraction between the pedestrian area and and the tracks.

Are the tracks embedded in the bridge surface? Last time I looked the tracks were in a similar position to those in the centre of the Naas Rd.

is demarcation necessary? Pedestrians and trams should be able to use the same space. There are many pedestrianised zones in German cities where trams also operate.

The bridge is fully paved, with a gutter marking the (fairly narrow) footpath. The tram speed limit appears to be 10 of whatever unit used outside Heuston and 15 on the bridge. I've yet to cross the bridge when a tram is on it, so I can't really comment about how tight it is, but if there is a serious issue then a fence will be erected.

I believe the measurements are Km per hour. 50 km/h is approximately 30 mph.

Passed by one sitting on the bridge yesterday morning.

There's about a 1m path between the edge of the bridge and the gutter. The paving then angles slightly upwards to the tracks.

There feels like enough room to walk comfortably accross. Although it may be a bit more akward with a beggar there most days.
