The gig is on Thursday and I am going with my friend who is a massive korn fan. I'm not. I haven't listened to a single album, their sound isn't what I like, but it is good. But waaaay too much for me.

Anyway, I have been told that the concert will be dangerous with moshing and general jumping up and down. I am a quiet guy sometimes and I am afraid that I might get hurt or, lost, trampled, die etc. Am I crazy for going?

You should be fine, though rock concerts have been filling up with less and less experienced concert goers as the years go by. You won't be in a mosh unless you want to be, and even if you do end up in one you won't be hurt intentionally and if you fall you will be helped up immediately.

You'll have about as much rough'n'tumble in a korn gig as you would in a petting zoo.

Korn aren't exactly on par with Vader for savage crowds... To put it mildly.

Okay, thanks. That puts me at ease, I guess.

That wasn't the case when they tore into Blind in the SFX (was it the sfx or am I mixing it up with a different gig...) when they first played here...

That would have been back in 95/96 (me thinks) when they appealed to people over the age of 12! :)

The RDS gig I was at in 2002 was definitely the worst gig I was ever at. I remember walking across a pit at that show, you should be grand It will mostly be little mini-moshers HIM t-shirt wearers. Stick around at the back of the venue is my best advise.:D

I saw Korn last week - not my cup of tea either and haven't a clue about their music. It was a very good gig though and lots of general harmless po-go-ing(spelling?).

Cool, as I said I'm not a fan of that kind of music so I don't really know what to expect, but if they are all gonna be around my age, I should be okay.
At least I get to go to Dublin for a few days.

aye, cant see any serious Korn fans daring to go into the pit for Vader, or Entombed, or The Haunted, or, etc (heh the picture I am painting is getting more and more obvious :D )

I saw them live from a distance about 4 years ago and didn't have the slightest inclination to go listen to any of their cd's - still thought they were decent live though. And as per my above comment, thought they were good last weekend as well. My recommendation would be don't bother trying to become a fan...

If you get close enough to the front of the pit, there will be so many bodies it'll be nigh impossilbe to fall. Plus you get a great view.
