In the kiltipper, firhouse and ballycullen regions of tallaght the population has trebeled because of all the new houses that were built in the past 5 years. The only bus connecting the area with the city centre is the 49. which has not been expanded to cater for the growth in population. Buses still come at 40 minute intervals and they are usually full to the brim.
There is no sign of improvement whatsoever.Does anyone else live around that region and has noticed the same problem.

The luas will not benefit east tallaght whatsoever as it runs from tallaght central, through kingswood and on to clondalkin. tallaght central already has a well developed bus service. this is a great injustice.

Get the bus to Tallaght in the morning and get on the tram! :)

Also, write to Dublin Bus and explain the situation. Suggest they extend some of the Route 15s.

Dublin Bus and the CIE groups of companies often provide appalling service, have done so for decades, and seem shameless about it. (Evidently government policy has not supported them in doing otherwise). It induces despair in the general public (well me anyway). Seems pointless to register complaints or suggestions with them.

So instead, it seems that newspapers and the broadcast media serve as a complaints department for the company. Which on the one hand is absurd. At the same time, it enables the general public have a view of transport services and routes that they do not personally use. So in this case, I have a view of the south east tallaght bus.

    So I have some questions:

    1. Is Dublin Bus responsive to suggestions? (I'd have the feeling that they would file your suggestion in the bin).

    2. Doesn't Dublin Bus evaluate routes and services, and introduce additional services where the need is so evident? It seems sensible that they should do so.

    3. The people and organisations who are pushing for the introduction of a congestion charge in Dublin, do they travel on the south east tallaght bus route? (Or comparable routes which force them to wait at least 40 minutes in the rain - excellent opportunity for contemplation).

Dublin Bus is not permitted to introduce new routes or change timetables without approval from the Department of Transport. It is also not permitted to increase the size of its fleet.
This ludicrous situation is the result of Seamus Brennan's prostitution of his office to big business, despite the experience of public transport privatisation failing in every city that has attempted it.
