If hurling was an internationel sports what would your Ireland starting 15 be (including the north ) .

Im very interested to here peoples opinions but I dont feel much like posting my own team .

Although there are 3 from my own county I think should be in the team Brenden Cummins ( Goalie ) , Philip Maher (full back ) , and Eoin Kelly (corner forward , right )

Without a doubt wexford's Damien Fitzhenry in the goal.

Others i'd put in are kilkennys henry shefflin, eddy brennan and tommy walsh.

Wexford's Rory McCarthy and Adrian Fenlon for those side line cuts.

Dont really know much about hurling outside leinster.

DJ has past his best Waylander. One of the greats but his form has been blown way out of proportion the last year or so. the speed is gone

Difficult to choose at this early stage of the championship, especially as Galway are yet to play (and Kilkenny for that matter :p) , but I think Ken McGrath has established himself as the best centre back in the country.

    cruiserweight team contains

0 Waterford players (no mullane - my player of the year so far) (no Shanahan)
    0 Limerick
    1 Clare
    1 Tipp
    2 Cork

Would you be from Killkenny by any chance?

Maybe he just appreciates that Kilkenny before this weekend had won the last 7 Leinster titles and the previous two all ireland titles. Also they are hot favourites even after the weekend to make that three in a row. I wounder why he would pick some of them?

No Wexford! If I was to pick a player from Waterford it would be McGrath he has been much more influential than Mullane or Shanahan IMO. I would not pick Mullane he has not been that impressive so far this year(also his temperment can be questioned)

What would your team be Kelter, and what is your alligence?

In fairness I thought Mullane was excellent against Clare. He knocked in the balls and Shanahan out them away, but Ithought Mullane did the hard work. Your not easily impressed Cruiser!

I obviously have a much lower opinion than some of the posters here on Peter Barry.

I wouldnt have him on the Kilkenny team, if there was a decent centre half back to replace him. I certainly wouldnt have him next nor near an Ireland team.

TippTop, I suppose you took the view that with Eoin Kelly in place, you could afford to put two has-beens in beside him :D I wont even comment on O'Meara

    Fitzhenry WEX

    Kavanagh KK
    Ryan WEX
    Canning GAL

    Foley LIM
    McGrath WAT
    Delaney KK

    Lyng KK
    Lynch CLARE

    Walsh KK
    Sheflin KK
    Comerford KK

    Kelly TIPP
    Mullane WAT
    Setanta Carlton

Gardiner of Cork should also get a mention. He's a very good midfielder.

By the way it should be pointed out that Hurling, or a variation of it mixed with shinty, is an international sport. We play Scotland every year. It is usually a warmer upper for the International Rules series when it is here.

Yes but it is not always a case of picking the best 15, as an awful lot of players are unavailable. It is more a case of who is decent and willing to play( but not always)!

I saw the Shinty international on BBC Scotland last year. The Irish team was made up of lads from weaker counties. Shane Martin of Dublin was man of the match. Ireland won.

Actually if I remember correctly (I might be wrong) that the selection policy was to pick the players from weaker counties to give them more exposure etc
