ill bow to all your knowledge...... if and only if you can help me with two problems im having!

problem the first: im trying to ghost my existing harddrive onto a new raid array, so i can boot windows off it and so on, i cant lay my hands on my xp cd hence the ghost and also ill keep my files and what not! only problem is in the MFT there is a entry for windows media player which crashes norton ghost and so i cant clone my hard drive! i tried cleaning the gegistry as best i could in vain, but as yet to no avail! next up i tried different software, r-drive, it failed after about the same amount of time, so arount the same file again i would assume, can anyone help me or suggest other ideas or software to try(freeware if possible)

problem the second: i changed my graphics card over-not sure if that is important-, and all went smooth, excpet every time i boot windows since the install including the installation for graphics card drivers, windows claims to find a mass storage controller, and cant find drivers, now all my controllers, raid and ide and second seperate ide controller are all working fine and all my drives show, and device manager says all is well, so im stumpted! how can i have a new device, that i dont have and have no listing in device manager? help please!

    heres hoping for some answers
    tom!

no idea on the second one but on the first one I'd seriously recommend this although you have to pay for it I'm afraid :(

Reinstall Windows ,get a copy if you own it you should have your cd key.
that mass storage thing is spooky and best to wipe and start again. Too many errors fixing them only prolonging the inevitable bad crash.

    Second question:

Right click on My Computer, select Properties. Go to the Hardware tab, click Hardware Wizard. Select Uninstall/Unplug a device. Click Next, select Uninstall. Tick the "Show hidden devices". If your old gfx card is there, select it and remove. Ditto for any other hardware you may have removed since install. I sometimes find old drivers pointing to devices or the old devices themselves listed in there. They're always hidden though. That may or may not help.

ok problem the first is solved! turned out that my controller card was running on generic windows drivers, and these got corrupt, my origional card drivers were reinstalled and all is hunky dorey!

though how drives and a controller card worked fine on gereric drivers for a while is a puzzle. still its fixed.

now for problem the second? any one some suggestions? i tried reinstalling media player but to no avail. can i perminetly delete it safely? how?

    come on people!
    thanks
