Red Lips

Over the last couple of weeks I've noticed that my lips have gone really red. They used to go red after a night on the tiles but they would go back to normal after a few hours. Now they are permanantly red. It's really bugging me because it has actually changed me from being average looking to ugly.

No sarcastic replies but do you think its from the alcohol? If so/not is it most likely to be a temporary thing?

It probably sounds like I'm trollling but I assure you I'm not. For those of you who think I'm taking the mickey or worrying about nothing, would you like to look like you've just had 5 bottles of Lucozade and 3 boals of Spagetti every day of the week?:)

You should get allergy tested. It was only after I did that I discovered the reason my lips were swelling up after a night out was because I had developed an allergy to apples and drinking cider was causing my lips to swell.

thanks super_furry. I never even thought of it as an allergy but since I have been drinking the same drink for years I knew it wasn't from the drink. I thought of the things I started to use in the past week or two and I actually bought a new whitening toothpaste around the same time this problem occured. It contains sodium monofluorophosphate, I don't know if all toothpasted contain that but its the only ingrediant I could find.

Anyway, I'll switch toothpastes and see how it goes. Thanks.

Could be a build up of toxins in your body, or burst capiliaries (not serious, and can be cuased by excessive drink). best to see your doc just in case, if only for peace of mind

You should go to the doctor - have you any other system's cause you're lips changing colour like that is a sign of a couple of things? Any shortness of breath & getting tired more easily?

Don't rule out something as an allergy just because you've drank it for years. Allergies can just develop.

Maybe buy a lip balm with some spf in it and wear it every day. I got loads of sun over the weekend, sure enough my lips were killing me and they were red too... reckon that it was a little sunburn. And the weather *has* been nice lately.

You must be male, as I'm sure most females would be delighted to have naturally red lips. Save on lipstick and all that.
    ;)
