I've just installed Mandrake 10 which comes with SAMBA 3. I've configured SAMBA pretty much the same and it was at version 2.6.

The other machines on the network can see the samba server but cannot access its shares. testparm saysall is well and Linneighborhood on Linux can see and access all the shares on the other machines.

I have all the accounts in the linux user manager and entered into sambas password file.

Anyone having a similar problem ?

If your upgrading from older account information running:

    pdbedit --force-initialized-passwords

May be useful, otherwise please post smb.conf or at least more relevant snippits. A quite a few niggles exist between 2.2 and 3.0 configurations.

Edit: Damnit forgot about KB828741, apply that patch to your windows boxen, and samba <3.0.4 won't work!

Thanks for the reply, it's a fresh install from scratch. I'll post the smb.conf file in the morning I'm off to work now - lucky me !!!

I'm not using any XP clients btw - I have 3 macs (OSX10.3.4) and a windows 98 laptop along with a couple of other misc machines.
