Can you get new windows to open in a new tab rather than a window?

With the standard install, I don't think so. target=_blank links will always open in a new window.

There must be a plugin somewhere though to overcome this. I would much appreciate it too. Although it only annoys me with javascript-type windows. I usually use the mousewheel to click all links on boards for example, so they open in a new tab.

I never knew that middle-mouse click opens a link in a new tab! Thanks, should save me some time!

    http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/#tabprefs

Tabbrowser Preferences will do it. Tabbrowser extensions will do it too (and a lot more besides) but many people find that it's too hefty.

control + T for new tabs
mouse3/ctrl+link = open in new tab

Right click the toolbar(above address bar) and select customise, and u can add in some useful buttons (go/newtab etc,)

using the rc is good, but not if you're a new user.
if you're a new user download the 0.8 version until 0.9 is oficially released. rc2 atm
