I might have to build another PC sometime in the next month or two. I am leaning towards an Athlon 64 system.

When are the new socket 939 motherboards expected out - and are the first generation likely to be expensive/unreliable? What would I miss out on if I just went for a socket 754 now?

AFAIK, its already selling in some places in the States. Probably will be here soon. The cpu will probably be in excess of E600 for the low end 939 cpu. As far as reliability, the reviews havent said they have run into any problems. I doubt you would have any major problems with them anyways.
If you have the cash, go for it dude. Otherwise, 754 is good enough. :)

    agree with neokenzo.
There is some performance improvement but for the price you pay is not worth it.

Im gonna wait for a 939 Nforce mobo with pciexpress and get an A64 3700+ and a gig o' pc3200LL corsair ram, then a pciE X800 XT and watercool the cpu/gfx.

Wait a month or two an build a uber rig tbh.

Their performance are really good actually. They beat most of EE on the reviews and they cost less than EE.

If you want a powerful/gamer system then wait for 2-3 months - it will be worth it because then you can upgrade you PC when you want more power later on down the line and you start off with a top-of-the-line system with hardware for the next generation of PC computing. Just be patient - I'm waiting once all the prices stabilise I'll go on a spending spree:D - I cannot wait!!! (judging by CombatCow's post I'm not the only one).
