Am from Balbriggan and have 'first refusal' on a site 2.5kms from family home (parents house). On the basis of current planning I could possibly get pp only if the site was within 1.5kms of family home.

However there seems to be huge confusion over Minister for the Environment Martin Cullens new 'sustainable rural housing' guidelines published recently.

It seems to be hard to get a straight answer from anyone on the impact of this and I'm desperate to find out if it might be worth my while taking the site with a view to an easier planning application in the future.

    Any info gratefully received!
