Problem Burning DVD Image Files With Nero

I've tried googiling this but to no joy, perhaps someone has come across the same problem Before (in fact I would imagine that this is some silly setting which has been changed by some of the folks who frequent my pc).

So i have the my backed up file on my hard drive I use DVDdecrptor to burn the image files, I only just got a fresh batch and noticed this strange problem, when I burn the image.iso file in Nero beside the image file I get a file called Image.iso.001!

The original file was 4.5 gig, the image file is 3.99 and this myserious .001 file is 368 megs, I burnt two discs and naturally they did not work as they were missing info (presumably the 368 megs on the .001 file)

Would much apreciate help getting this sorted, reinstalled nero etc, no joy (thats why im guessing it is some silly setting, which is being saved even on reinstall)

Im running Nero 6.0.0.15 on win2k pro.

Got the problem sorted, (.001 file is normal afaik)someone messed about with my Nero Settings, but now I am getting an even stranger problem, I just bought these New Datawrite 8x grey top DVD's, now, no matter which way I burn the DVD's in decryptor, in nero, makes no difference, when I insert the disc in to my Philips DVD 728, it plays the wrong chapters first!!! I've read up on this and this is a problem which can often arise from dual layer discs, but this is not the case as it was taken from single layer.

Im guessin it is down to the these Datawrites, but what bugs me is that I actually managed to burn an entire movie with menus and everything in nero just as data and it worked perfectly, it would appear the problem happens when it is done with a dvd with no chapters and menus.

Im using Pioneer 107, I just upgraded the firmware to 1.13 from 7 so I will check to see if that makes any difference, in the meantime my advice to all would be to stay well clear of these discs if you plan to back up your dvd's.

The strange part is that they all play fine on the computer, then on the standalone the chapters will be mixed, it simply won't read the title and i have to skip forward to bring up video, then there is no sound.

The only successful backups I have made are directly from DVD using dvd2one, or from single layer discs. These discs are not worth the hassle, I am hoping someone is going to contradict me here as i bought 50 of the feckers.

There's a freeware program called DVDSHRINK which will take all the hassle out of legitimately backing up your own DVDs, this integrates very nicley with Nero and is better than any of the commercial software I've used.

hmm. when you burn a dvd in nero the first thing it does is sorts the files into order(watch the next time you burn)

dvd shrink is your only man for the majority of discs, i only use decryptor when a disc is tough to read. seriously though try outputting files instead of an image. ive never had the prob you decribe and ive backed up a lot of dvds.

Just to post back for anyone else thinking of buying these blanks, they are actually class, it would appear that the problem arised when burning backups with the menu's removed.

Any DVD i backed up with full menus and everything worked perfectly, smoth and good quality playback, very good at skipping chapters, for their price you can't go wrong.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I just thought it would be worth posting back and letting people know.
