Stuck in work yesterday and it's absolutly fantastic outside. frown.gif (26C)

So one of the guys in work rented a boat and asked if anyone wanted to join. So around 4 grabbed loads of beers and got onto a 34 footer sail boat.

4pm-8pm (as the sun was setting).... just incredible. biggrin.gif I think I know what toy I want next.

Had a day trip on a (powered) catamaran while on holidays - excellent ride on the bow going straight into a force 5-6 - who needs a roller-coaster.

Sailed the Fastnet, Done a good few Coastal cruises, worked in Sailing schools, Worked on a Chartered Tall ship for 4months in the States ..

And still can't say enough good things about the sport.

Tho .. Windsurfing is also worth a try if you like the water, thats what I moved away too .. and lately am looking at Kitesurfing.

If you want a cheap way to get involved in sailing, go down to your local Yacht club and check if they have any regular racing in J's or whatever .. see if you can get your name down to go out for a few races.

Sailing is for pussies wink.gif. When I went white water rafting in Oz, it was one of the best days of my life. It rocks, so try it if you ever have the chance.

If there's one thing I hate, it's people.

yah its something that I always wanted to do but never got around to it. I've been wind surfing a couple of times and am a qualified scuba diver but just never really got the opportunity to learn to sail....

Dont really have the time now...

Where did you rent the boat from and how much did it cost?
