Just wondering if anyone out there knows of any REASONABLY priced
travel insurance ...... that covers the situation where you know that
a family member is terminally ill and as a result there is a chance that you
may have to cancel your holiday at the last minute or fly home early from
    your trip?

    Thanks for any info

if you have VHI medical cover, you can apply for a travel insurance through them..

This covers the usual as far as lost luggage, flight cancellations, lost stolen personal
possessions etc etc but its like an add on for your standard health cover so you
dont end up covering that side of it twice..

Have a look at www.vhi.ie for the details, its called
Multi trip and the rates are very reasonable.. €49 per person and you can get couple
    and family rates too..

    Thanks for that
But there is usually a clause somewhere saying something
to the effect of - if you are aware in advance of the holiday
that there may be a reason for cancellation of the holiday -
then it's excluded from cover -

Which I assume is the case if you know a close family member
has been diagnoised with a terminal illness - and may take a
turn for the worst - before or while you are on holiday .........

    Will check what VHI say

just to let you know , i booked travel insurance for my folks through www.getcover.com (Cork based company)

They gave us a very resonable quote and also took our vhi details so that they can do all the co-ordination in the event of an illness,

although VHI cover isn;t essential (you don;t need it to get covered) but if you do have it then you can get a discount.

    hope this helps
