WD 120gig Problem

Bought 120gig WD Caviar in December I think, and for the last month or so its being spontaneously turning itself off. It did this again last Monday and when it re-booted I got a BSOD when it got to the Win2k 2nd boot screen. I now have this drive hooked up to an old win98 machine which doesn't recognise it at all. So I think the drive is dead.

Is there anything obvious Im missing to check. It still turns on and gets to the 2nd boot screen but then throws up the BSOD so it still is getting power etc. Am confuzzled. Any help appreciated

98 won't recognise it if it's been formatted with NTFS. i doubt the hard drive is dead,
i could be wrong, it could be on the way there, but it's loading up so far then
crashing which sounds like that could be a problem with windows loading..

try shoving the drive into another PC with Win2k or XP, see if it works and recover
any important data. If it works, format & reinstall. If it doesn't, well then i'd guess it's
wankered. As for the spontaneous shutdown... ??? power management wasn't set
to turn off the disks was it?
