Just been sent this by the people who organise the company's travel arrangements - may affect some people here.
    Portugal (Passport & Visa information)

In view of the music festival 'Rock in Rio' and the Euro 2004 soccer tournament the Portuguese Government has decided to suspend the application of the Schengen Agreement in Portugal. The dates for the temporary suspension of this agreement will apply from the 26th May until the 4th July 2004.

As Ireland is not part of the Schengen Agreement the effect for Irish passport holders is minimal. However, there is no doubt that the Portuguese authorities at border controls and airports will be carefully examining the passports of all citizens entering Portugal.

It is therefore advisable for all clients going to Portugal to ensure that their passports are in order. Please also bear in mind that clients may be non-nationals, who in certain cases require both a passport and visa.
