Manchester United chief executive David Gill has held new secret talks with American sports tycoon Malcolm Glazer.

Gill met Glazer in America at the weekend and the news will prompt fresh speculation about a possible takeover of United.

The 75-year-old Glazer owns 18.25 per cent of the Premier League outfit but has considered buying up the shares of Irish millionaires John Magnier and JP McManus to take over the club.

The owner of the American football team the Tampa Bay Buccaneers first bought up 3.2 per cent of shares in United last year and in March he told the Stock Exchange that he had "no current intentions to make an offer".

Glazer and his sons, Joel, Bryan and Edward, believe that they have the merchandising expertise to exploit United's global fanbase and met with Gill to discuss future plans for the club.

Gill has promised there will be finances for summer spending. United have already spent £7million on Leeds striker Alan Smith and are in talks with PSG over defender Gabriel Heinze.

I don't think Glazier will be buying out Cubic Expression - they usually co-ordinate their efforts when it comes to trading the PLC shares.

True with United soon to Launch their own Global TV coverage network I can,t see any of the big share holders relinquise their rights to the profits this is expected to generate.
