    i was reading a .php file in wordpad and i forgot the system would associate wordpad with *.php.. how do i disassociate it? win98

    right click the file > properties

    you see "file type:" and "opens with:" - click the "change" button and select the program you want to open the file with.

    open windows explorer, go to view/folder options (i think... my memory is shagged!)
    then go to the file types tab, look for .php in this list and remove the association from there.
    (that's assuming that you want php files to be associated with nothing, otherwise RobertFoster's instructions are what you want.)
