just remember, the iBooks are fairly cheap brand new off the apple website, starting at 1,127 with the student discount. And there's maybe 100-200 off the powerbooks with that discount.

Theres two ads on the top of this page as I look at it.

    Apple iBook from £849.
Buy online - choice of 3 models. Apple's G4 Laptops. John Lewis Aff. Buy the New Apple iBook
12, and 14" iBook. New Specs. In Ireland - Free to Deliver.

What you mean is you want a cheap 2nd hand G4 powerbook. Is there such a thing?

Not as long as people are willing to shell out way over the odds for old damaged machines !!

um sorry recordosmith u have lost me, do u know the difference ? Ibook & Powerbook ? they are different machines OK ? i know how much an ibook costs, I had a G4 ibook, i now want a powerbook, 2nd hand. They keep their value well, so i know it wont be cheap, but its gonna cost less than a new one, understand now???

You mean the ad? Sorry I assumed somewhere that sold iBooks would also be selling Powerbooks and you didn't say 2nd hand originally so assumed new. Lots of people on the boards ask for prices and advice on where to buy new things. Theres even a forum where you can request such things called Bargain Alerts. Theres been a few threads about buying Apple stuff from the US for example, theres also a wanted forum in the classified section.

You should have specified 2nd hand if thats what you meant in the first place.

Heggie, try the Apple Refurbished Store. Opens every Wednesday morning, and can have discounts up to 45%.

The products are as good as new. They have been sent back because of minor defects, all have been fixed, but they cannot then be sold as new goods. So they end up here. You can end up with minor cosmetic imperfections but reports are universally positive and the products are under Apple warranty as with any other purchase.

Only catch is, you will need a UK shipping & billing address for this.

I have a G4 powerbook which is a couple of years old. But, it is not for sale.

Check the hardware/components forsale section here as well.
I picked up a Powerbook G4 500 MHz, 1Gb RAM, 40Gb HDD, DVD, Airport, 15.2" widescreen, spare battery, misc. software for Euro 900 about 2 months back.

There is a "wanted" section as well- in the "Shop" board- people who are selling stuff often check to see if someone is already looking for it, which saves them having to list it.

I agree with you re: the powerbook- its a beautiful machine.

Actually, you don't. Just give an Irish address "in" the UK (they're going to know where Dublin is!). I've bought stuff this way through the Refurb Store :-)
