disk drive broken - where to fix

I have a Compaq Presario 2100 laptop and shortly after I got it at Christmas, the door to the disk drive jammed. I took it back to the store and they fixed it so that I could get the disks in and out but said that there is a bent spring and they would have to send it back to Compaq. I was moving to Ireland that week so didn't want to send my computer out because I was taking it with me.

I still need to get it fixed however because it's causing me some problems. Whenever I try to save to disk, it makes an awful noise and takes forever. Where should I go to get this fixed. I have zero knowledge of computer stores in Dublin and don't want to get ripped off. Also, will it matter that I have a North American model of the computer? Am I better off contacting Compaq here directly?

id ring compaq directly, they will either repair directly or al least have a list of autherised repairers.

if you got it before christmas, itll still be under warrenty, id ring compaq, as the repair would be covered by warrenty

Compaq seem to have good tech support and a short turnaround time for repairing laptops.

Shouldn't be a problem. Every laptop PSU I have encountered has and input of 100~240V on it.
